From carpenter to funeral director, Haerens Funerals has been a trusted name in Sint-Martens-Latem and far beyond for three generations. Founded in 1945 by Albert Haerens, a local carpenter and furniture maker, the business began as a small woodworking shop in the village.

As demand evolved, the focus shifted from crafting coffins to providing comprehensive funeral services.

A Modern Touch with a Legacy of Care

In 2004, the third generation took the helm—this time, a dynamic young woman with a clear vision for innovation. Evelyne Haerens, a certified thanatopractor and funeral director by training, brought a fresh perspective while maintaining the family’s tradition of discretion and compassion.

With determination and a feminine touch, Evelyne transformed the company, rebranding it from “Begrafenissen Albert Haerens” to “Haerens NV” and, in 2013, to “Haerens Evelyne BVBA.” Today, the legacy of excellence continues, blending tradition with modernity to serve families with the utmost care and respect.
